Exhibit Transfer Inc. provides dedicated and reliable tradeshow shipping. They offer up-to-date show information and real-time tracking through their centralized tradeshow customer service center, which monitors every shipment throughout transit to insure on-time delivery.
Challenges:
In the fast-paced world of tradeshow shipments, the biggest challenge for Exhibit Transfer Inc. was keeping customers apprised of the status of their shipment. Although they have an internal system that tracks status, an inordinate amount of time was spent on the phone with customers providing location status information. Accuracy of ship-to information, particularly shipping from the show floor, was also problematic. Errors frequently occurred on hand-written shipping labels.
Solutions:
In addition to a fresh, updated look for their website, Systemtek recommended several operations-affecting improvements. First was the development of an application that could collect status information from the company’s firewall-protected internal tracking system. For security reasons, the website couldn’t perform a simple query for the status. To resolve this technical issue, an application was developed to reside on the customer’s site, inside their firewall. Every five minutes the application collects status and sends it to the website, making information available to customers in near real-time.
To improve the accuracy of shipping labels and to increase customer convenience, another unique feature of the website is the creation of pre-printed labels. Important tracking, destination and contact information are pre-populated.
Results:
The new website has greatly improved operational efficiency for Exhibit Transfer Inc. On-line tracking is now a marketing differentiator for the company and, less time is spent answering status questions on the phone. Customer satisfaction has improved, as tracking information is available on a 24/7 basis. The pre-printed labels have also reduced errors, providing for more accurate delivery and happier customers!
